Let’s imagine you’re at a market with thousands of people who are all in need of different things – some are looking for bicycles, office supplies, pigeon catchers, whatever. You have something that you know will help a certain group of people but not many have found your stall to purchase what you have.
The people your service will help are your ideal clients. To help them find you in the market of hundreds of thousands of vendors, you need a strategy to raise your voice above all the noise so they can hear you.
The most effective strategy includes learning as much as you can about your ideal client and creating a profile so you can tailor your message just for them.

Creating An Ideal Client Profile

There are three main factors to consider when creating your ideal client profile.
Demographics, which you’re probably familiar with, provide a basic understanding of your ideal client. It includes things like:

  • Age
  • Sex
  • Income level
  • Employment
  • Location
  • Ethnicity
  • Education level
  • Marital Status
  • Life Stage
  • Family Status

Psychographics are even more beneficial in helping you identify your ideal client. They include information about their:

  • Interests
  • Hobbies
  • Emotional triggers
  • Lifestyle choices

The last factor to consider when creating your ideal client profile is their pain point(s). Pain points are simply problems your ideal client is having that your service could potentially solve. It could be a small problem or a large problem. The diversity of the problem is as limitless as the solutions for it but your goal is to match your solution (or service) with the pain point it solves for your client.
Focusing your message on your ideal client will not only help them find you and your service but will also benefit your bottom line.
